Licensing Policy
1. Copyright Ownership
All photographs created by VanSkyStudio are protected by copyright under Italian Law 633/1941 (Legge sul Diritto d'Autore) and the Berne Convention.
Copyright vests in the photographer, Joanna Levit, from the moment of creation. Delivery of digital files does not transfer copyright.
2. Personal Use Licence (Included with All Bookings)
Granted automatically upon full payment. Permits the Client and members of their immediate family to:
Print photographs for personal display (up to A2 size without prior approval).
Share photographs on personal social media accounts with credit '@vanskystudio'.
Share photographs digitally with friends and family.
This licence does NOT permit: commercial use, licensing to third parties, editorial publication, advertising, stock photography submission, or AI training datasets.
3. Commercial Licence
Required for any use in advertising, product promotion, corporate communications, or commercial social media accounts (accounts primarily serving a commercial purpose).
Fee: from €350 per image, or project-based pricing. Contact us for a quote.
Includes: right to use the image in specified commercial contexts for a term of 3 years.
Excludes: exclusive use, sub-licensing, use beyond agreed territory or media channels.
Attribution: 'Photo © VanSkyStudio / Joanna Levit' must appear adjacent to the image where technically feasible.
4. Extended Licence
Permits broader commercial use including print runs over 250,000 copies, out-of-home advertising, broadcast, and product packaging.
Fee: from €1,200 per image. Contact us for bespoke pricing.
Term: 5 years unless otherwise agreed.
Attribution: as per Commercial Licence. Waiver of attribution available for additional fee.
5. Exclusive Licence
Grants the Client exclusive worldwide rights to the specified image for the agreed term, preventing the photographer from licensing the same image to others during that period.
Fee: negotiated individually, minimum €3,500 per image.
Must be agreed in writing before the shoot; retroactive exclusivity is not available.
6. Editorial Licence
For use in newspapers, magazines, books, blogs, and news media where the image is used to illustrate factual content about VanSkyStudio, Taormina, or events photographed.
Fee: from €150 per image for a single publication cycle.
Does not permit commercial or advertising use.
Credit line required: 'Photo © Joanna Levit / VanSkyStudio'.
7. AI and Automated Systems
No licence (personal or commercial) permits the use of VanSkyStudio photographs to train, fine-tune, or evaluate artificial intelligence, machine learning, or automated content-generation systems.
Any such use requires a separate written agreement and a fee reflective of the scope of use.
8. Requesting a Licence
To request a commercial, extended, exclusive, or editorial licence, email hello@vanskystudio.com with the image reference(s), intended use, territory, media channels, and duration.
We aim to respond to licensing enquiries within 5 business days.
